REASONS WHY DEVOTION IS NOT REALLY DEVOTION

As my Yoruba people will say, eleyi tu wa le o, attendance during devotion is the highest of it all and i honestly believe that nothing else can surprise me. NH girls were shocked on Saturday night at the sight of hostel wardens with attendance and their biro (na only pankere miss) to mark devotion attendance. This must have been a directive from the new vc who of course has collaboed with the chaplains to do us strong thing. I am not sure if this is going on in other hostels o, but i sha hope they get tired sooner than they usually do.

7 REASONS WHY DEVOTION IS NOT REALLY DEVOTION
  • The smell from the toilet lasan (male hostel angle)
  • Opportunity for some people to gist with their friends from other rooms (female hostel angle)
  • Its extremely difficult if not impossible to pause Fifa (especially now that Fifa14 is out)
  • Its not really nice when debtors and creditors meet na, so i will rather pretend to be asleep on my bed (Male and female hostels)
  • The noisemaker's don't let we the serious ones hear what the devotional leader is saying, all we year is praise the lord......minutes later.....lets share the grace.
  • Imagine what can happen if the light blinks for two seconds, two words, gadget, disappear (male hostel)
  • It is Bowen students, they are just like that.
Despite the fact that majority don't come out for devotion, most students actually have their own personal devotion, and for me that is the most important devotion, your personal time with God, so the authorities should stop chasing shadows and beg kemi bee to increase their fish size. Happy sunday

A friend in need

For the past few days, I've been seeing feeds, tweets and news on social media about an ex student of Bowen who needs financial help to save her from a medical condition.
Her name is Lulu Egbunike, she works with Etisalat Call Centre, she's  been diagnosed with recurrent Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, which is a form of cancer of the blood. She is currently receiving treatment in Nigeria but needs to be flown to India for urgent medical treatment. Statistics have shown that over 80% of patients diagnosed with this disease are cured if they receive the right treatment on time. We believe that with our collective donations, we  will be giving  Lulu a chance to fight this disease. She is young, bright, always full of life and smiles with so much to offer. The sum of $22, 299.14 ( N3,645,909.39 @$163.5) is needed for her medical bills and travels.
I believe with the help of the school, we (students) can all help raise a reasonable amount of the total cash needed, this is a kind of tap on the bbsf exco's shoulder to make sure the chaplains looks into this case and see if we can make a special offering in chapel for at least a week, I believe the amount raised will help Lulu out of this condition.
Excos, the move is ours now.........

UPDATE: Car hit incident

We have comfirmation on the girl's identity (took 24hrs of sniffing around tho), her name is Dolapo Adeyemi, she is a final year MassComm student, she stays in nh2. Dolapo is also an active chapel worker, discipleship and devotional unit. She is still in the school clinic, that means she is doing fine and responding to treatment. So let's keep praying that she is strong enough to give testimony at tomorrow's devotion.

NEW VC, NEW POLICIES, NEW MONTH

Bowen gist will officially like to welcome you all back to school and apologize for inactivity during the break, I took a break too so that I can bounce off the break right at you. We thank God nobody died during the 4 month break, nobody got pregnant (maybe someone did) and yes! Someone did blood money .... I think.
So far so good, 400 level CIT peeps looking the freshest, they have saved enough money from IT na to com dey buga us remain (Bloody show offs).
Prof Matthew Ojo is the man of the moment, barely two months after he resumed office we have seen loads of changes, improvisation and new developments.

Let me start by wishing them the best, Camera phones are allowed in school now, so enjoy it while it lasts because sooner or later they will ban it again, trust me on that, it has its terms and conditions though, no texting, pinging, browsing, checking Bowen gist, taking pictures, checking the time, in fact no holding of your phone in chapel, or else...............

Talking about changes, evening chapel services has been shifted an hour backward, it’s now 6-7 pm, then 300 level girls downwards will attend evening services at temporary site while year 4 and 5 girls with all the guys will use the chapel (I just pity 100 to 300 level guys, no more agbere in the house of God, na to dey toast 400 level girls now)

Also, the school registration domain has now been transformed into a website, you can now register and check your room online, subsequent results will also be put there (finally, Bowen University enters the 21st century).

Other changes include renovation of male hostel, tiles in the toilet bla bla bla.

The new V.C. has started well and I hope he keeps it up, it’s a good thing camera phones are allowed, it can afford you to do amebo by checking Bowen gist. Feel free to drop a comment.

Today marks exactly a year the ill fated Dana plane crashed in Lagos. The plane crash can never be forgotten by Bowenites as it goes down in Bowen history as the day they lost a student Adeleke Oluwadamilare Samuel
Oluwadamilare was an Agric student, he was resuming for summer school which was compulsory for Agric students when he lost his life in the crash, His freiends and family members will never forget him and he will forever be remembered for his sense of humour and his generousity.
REST IN PEACE DAMILARE, YOU WILL FOREVER BE REMEMBERED. (JUNE 3, 2012)

BREAKING NEWS: FIRE OUTBREAK IN MALE HOSTEL

There was a fire outbreak in room 61 of Mattew hostel this afternoon(Sunday). Different school of thoughts have their own version of the outbreak, but the news is that the fire was as fiery as hell fire itself for those of you that still do bad things.
Students were sighted running haphazardly as some were running towards the inferno while others were running from it. A group of students were seen clinching to their laptops and a spiral binded paper which I assume to be their project.
The porters and security men arrived minutes after the fire outbreak with fire extinguishers, unfortunately there was no fire to extinguish but they went ahead and sprayed it ......... LIKE SERIOUSLY???? :o Students near the room have sworn not to sleep there till they leave school.
It would have been easy to peg the incident on electricity, but their was no light, so what could have caused it??????????????????????????????????????

"OVER AND OUT" OUT ON CD

The Bowen documentary is finally out, the documentary titled "over and out" got into the school premises on Saturday morning and sales started on Sunday. The documentary should have arrived two weeks earlier but due to certain faults that needed correction, the production date had to be postponed. The documentary will cost just two hundred naira.
Returning students can get copies of the documentary next year, and final year students that payed their dues will get it before during or after their project defense as decided by their class rep.

SCHOOL BANS CAMERA PHONES AS JUBILEE SMILES "FOR NOW"

Camera phones, ipads and have been banned again?????? will this school just make up their f#@*ing mind. oh boy, next session na die, i wonder how new students will cope with this new rule. I'm sure most resuming students will flaunt this rule cos i do not expect a Bugatti owner going back to Mazda 626.
That is problem for next session sha,but right now, students in school are hungry. almost all cafeterias have closed for the session, the only cafeteria open is jubilee and jubilee is the most hated cafeteria in school for the following reasons:
1. you peel egg shell for yourself
2. sometimes there is stew but no rice
3. you will stand at the counter for 5mins to get served, nobody there but you o
4. don't bother to go there without change or you go back to your hostel hungry.
5. you get insulted after everything and one idiat tells you "na Bowen dey cos dis tin o, we no fit see for street"
6. the cutlery there can't be used by a mad man.
7. they tell you "chill, rice is on fire"
8. they need a warmer for their plantain, that shit is always cold, that is if they have sef.
GOD HELP US IN THIS SCHOOL O
